    QLD rego/roadworthy options

Its been a while.... but time to get the freelander back on the road.

Currently she is in the garage in QLD, with NSW plates, NSW rego expired in March. I've had her started and done a few laps of the estate.

What are the steps to getting a QLD rego?

Can I get a 3 day temp rego even with NSW plates?
Do I need to get a temp NSW rego instead?

Then I need a freelander mechianic OR a K series engine gearbox expert on the gold coast to diagnose the funny noises!!! Any recomendations?

Have a look at the Qld. Transport web site. gives all the info on the temporary permit and registration procedures.

In QLD you can get a permit to drive from the Raod Transport people. Fill out a few forms and away you go.

You will need to specify where and when you are going to drive and you need to sign a form stating the vehicle is roadworthy.

It would probably be less painful to hire a car trailer or get a tilt tray to take it to the mechanic.

Qld transport on a good day can be painful!!

    1. Take off the NSW plates. If you get pulled over, it's better to have no plates than un-reg ones.
    2. Get a CTP slip for the days you want to drive the car.
    3. Go to Qld Transport and lodge the form for an unregistered car permit.
    4. Drive car to where ever it is you are going. Have the car booked in, so if you get pulled over, the cops can ring the mechanic and verify your story. This is more to cover yout arse in a worst case scenario.

Thanks all, just waiting for payday now to get the ball rolling.

I knew I should have installed a tow bar on the other car....
