Just putting a few costings together for a new business.

Can somone please advise me of the process of purchasing a car in QLD. How much change of ownership and Rego and ongoing licencing etc costs. Looking at mid 90's Fal-coon or dunny dore SW.

Look at their web site. There is a rego calculator on it.

If you purchase a registered vehicle in Qld, it MUST have a RWC. The previous owner should provide the RWC. The only exception to this rule that I am aware of is a box trailer (under 750kg).

A mid 90's (ours is 94) 6 cyl falcon rego is $812.20 per annum. Transfer fee is $2 per hundred (IIRC) of it's value. An RWC is only required if a registered vehicle changes ownership or the rego lapses (and has to be re-registered), not annually like NSW.

A drivers licence is about $80 (5 years).

true although you can sell a registered car as is where is without the roadworthy Provided you are only maintaining the registration for test drive purposes and will be cancelling it and handing in the plates at the time of sale.

just a trap to be careful of.

Dave, according to QT you may not advertise a registered vehicle for sale without an RWC and the blue paper being attached to the vehicle whilst it is so displayed. A fine applies if detected.

Another warning. Brisbane City Council is hot on vehicles being stood on a road and offered for sale. If a complaint is received or a BCC By-laws officer notices then there is a $150 fine. If the vehicle is registered and no blue slip attached they will notify QT who then add their own fine. Could be an expensive day.

    Commercial Vehicle Charges for toll

The other thing to consider is that if it is registered as a commercial vehicle the tolls (gateway, logan motorway clem7 etc) are a lot more than a privately registered vehicle.
