I'm glad you're happy with your golf. I'd be checking that it was built in Germany though, not SA (I think the R32 is).

That was the reason we went for the Audi as it was built in Germany, unlike all the golfs (apart from a couple of exceptions).

You are right... The golf is built in china... But not the ones we get here. For the mkv... They all came from south Africa except for the r32 5 door which came from Germany. I think the r32 three doors came from
Poland or somewhere like that. Jettas come from Mexico.

I think for the mk vi they come from
Germany but either way id check the
VIN on any VW you buy if you're picky :)

The R32's comes from Germany and the rest of the Golf line up may not, but this is a Land Rover forum so why do we care of this so called German bolt action preciecion build quality, we drive Land Rovers so why be picky ;):p:wasntme:

Check Vin nos, not all are from Germany.

My R32 2007 was built in Germany but I can tell you, it still had its issues.
Leaking sunroof, indicator stalk loose, front LHS light loose and 2 broken lugs, leak on both rocker covers just after 2000km's but all was fixed. They even replaced headlining after leaking sunroof stained it.

But as you said, its a landy forum and I wish they would fix stuff as quick.

I have a 'Mexican' VW Jetta diesel and its been the best car I have ever owned for build quality, reliabilty, fuel economy and aftersales service.
Horses for courses, and arent Defenders being built in South Africa too???;)
