Why compare a slow brick with a cut snake.
Oh well, each to their own.
I'll give your cut snake a run any day. I've never seen up to 1000hp out of a 4 cylinder german charf cutter. I can get 200 Kw reliably out of a 2.3lt 8V 4cyl turbo intercooler...easily, thats a mild tune and this type of engine first apeared in 1975! But go ahead...keep underestimating the underdog.....I live for it. Some people share the same view when comparing Land Rovers to toyota's. Volvo's rule. Each to their own.

    Thanks Robbo
Not sure what for but what are you on about?
1000 hp, I never mentioned that number but now that you have asked, go on You Tube or do a search.
Volks wagon/Golf motors are the most raced donks in history.
In europe they are used for hillclimbs all over not to mention club runs, sprints, circuit stuff and drags.
Most sold car in the world, current world car of the year, Australien car of the year, manufactuerer of the year and benchmark for anything else hitting the market.
    research is your friend.
R32 as was chosen is probably one of best all-rounders ever made.
They have been chipped and modded to no end, not here so much as no autohouses come down here because of speed restrictions, lack of driver education and we are stuck on this huge island with hardly any consumers that are willing to hand over cash.

Your Volvo whilst good, is not even on the same page.

You love it, thats nice till you go and try to trade it in, they drop more resale than a Magna.

Back to what you said, you may have never seen it but does that mean they don't exist?
A Volvo give a R32 a run???? It will suck that ridiculas Volvo badge right off the even more ridiculas bonnet.
Drive one before you pass judgement.
I drove almost every Volvo model ever made, I just bought my mum a V70 that is already put into a ditch(Bless her).
I like cars you see, for a hobby, I test drive many cars, I know many car dealers that frequent my Bar and do contra deals where I run them a Tab and in return I get a cool car over weekends.
I recently had a Freelander actually, didnt want it at 1st because I thought they were crap but boy was I wrong.
My Boss(day job) just bought it for his wife.

Volvo compared to a Golf, please, was this just to get me ranting.

    Crap, I fell for it.

Robbo, quite right, I should learn to spell better but its sadly only my 2nd/3rd language and I do pretty well don't you think.
Oh and I am from Germany and I love this Island and the people and the live style.
Its just some people who have to insult me personally if I make a couple of spelling mistakes they get under my skin and is totally uncalled for.

Come and say it to me in person and or a PM but not like this.

You probably just felt that bad about your Volvo that you had to dig deep and insult me to retaliate.
Thats O.K, simple workings of the human mind.

Lets talk about Landy's then we might find some common ground. I'm sorry but I cop all kinds of crap from people about my choice of vehicle and I tend to arc up. I dont care what anyone says, a Volvo is the most underated car on the planet. Sorry if I caused offence. PS: I just looked at a V40 T4 blowing the doors off a R32 Golf on Youtube.
    Regards Robbo.

I know I'm a bit late to this - but you know that the golf is actually the same car as the Audi A3? They are exactly the same dimensions, and are built on the same floorpan. We have one and I can assure you they are the same internally as a golf.

It amuses me that people get led astray by marketing and different interiors.

I'm glad you're happy with your golf. I'd be checking that it was built in Germany though, not SA (I think the R32 is).

That was the reason we went for the Audi as it was built in Germany, unlike all the golfs (apart from a couple of exceptions).

I know, I cop crap too, just not personnel.

Good luck on the Volvo and hope they stay around.

The A3 is a great looking car, well finished but $10k more. It is build in Ingolstadt/Germany.
Does that mean, both being basically same car that the Audi is way overpriced or the Golf being basically same car is just a bargain?

I don't know but I do find the A3 a bit better finished but so it should for that money.
I especially like the convertible A3 with GTI engine and sound upgrade with focal speaker package.

I think our (wifes) next car will be a FL2.
I just really started to take a liking to them.

R32 and A3 are the same platform, but, a huge difference in usable interior space great car but I just cant drive a car when my head is touching the roof lining....
