If you enjoy the RR, and it is reliable,(Very important in a trip/ touring vehicle) then go for it. I can not imagine touring in anything other than the Rangie. Nor can SWMBO:D

My work Rodeo hasnt got a soul,for that matter it hasnt got a heart either.
They arent even made in Japan any more.You will find the Rodeo/Colarado/Dmax/Triton/Ranger/BT50 and HiLux are all made in the Phillipines these days.

As for the Triton, Even somewhat tricked up, Doesn't have the soul of the Rover.

We're working up to a Trip to Tas etc and I'm not real keen on going unless we get the Rangie back on the road.
I must be crazy, dumping a new reliable vehicle for a known problem child on a trip like this.:D

as I recall, you did tell us in advance of what you were thinking of purchasing and I believe you were (diplomatically) advised about the options.... :)

and I also seem to recall that there used to be an ad - about something being the heart and soul of 4 wheel driving - it's never over in a rover apparently :D

I know the feeling.
I drive a brand new Hyundai I30CW for work, (really nice car).
I will still shift it out of the way so that I can take my V8 Disco down to the shops. SWMBO thinks I'm crazy but I just love the sound of the V8 and the "soul" of the Landy.:)
I don't care if work pays for the fuel in the i30 I would still rather take the Disco.:)

If it is any help Tony we will be down there with our touring truck the 130 in Dec:):o and we love driving it:D you just need to get yours ready thats all;)

Thankfully I have the 120 or I'd be insane by now;) Spend most of my time in it anyway thank goodness.
The Triton serves us well as a no BS family tractor and my wife feels safe with it. Doesn't bother me as a family driver at all. So happy with that.
It has just daunted on me I don't really want to travel south with it let alone north.:D Had a bit of a discussion with the family over this today.
The outcome......
We get the Rangie back on the road. Will it be reliable? Who knows? Anything may happen with a vehicle of its age. I will do all the essentials and Carry a few spares.
Should be OK in Tas as a few members over there if we get in strife:angel:
As my wife puts it, the trip will be an adventure and if something goes wrong we just make comedy out of it.
Bit like when I submerged the Rangie on Morton Island and the water came through the vents! My wife laughed till she saw a jet of water entering her hand bag via the floor vents. Then I laughed for a short time:twisted:
Can still see the kids CD's floating around in the back.:o
As you can imagine things went bad for the AMP under the seat:eek: Some how the ECU and relays survived.

You've got the skills, you've got the tools. Now all you need is a satphone and mobile broadband.:D

Whatever you want to call it, I reckon it's real, some vehicles are just so much more fun and satisfying to drive than others.

As you mentioned there are knowledgeable members in Tassie if you get in trouble...;)

I'm not sure if I have mentioned this before Tony ,but My Rangie will be up for sale as I need funds to repaire my roof and sadly I'm going to miss it. :(:(:(:(

i still dont understand why you bought the triton!
