I'm in the same situation here. The missus drives a boring AU Falcon and we also have the Rangie.
The Falcon is simple, reliable and cheap.
The Rangie looks like a POS, has more niggly quirks than me and chews juice like nothing else.
Yet we take the Rangie everywhere. The Falcon is much less comfortable on long trips, but faster. The 'soul' aspect comes into it too. :)

^^^^ pretty much sums it up. If I only needed a car it would have been more up spec than the Trytoo for the same $$$.
Had to get something safe and reliable for my wife to use. Has over 20000 kms on it already:o
We use it for night trips to Sydney and animal impacts do happen around here. We also tow a Double horse float and carry all the other crap needed for them.
Have to carry chemical and gas bottles in the tray.
We had a look at the 130 and 110 pick up and seems familiar to the old 120 with in cab economics:o I wasn't very impressed with the postie van engine either:(
The D4 and Range Rover were out of out budget this time.
Beside we really needed the duel cab this time around.
Value for money, SRS,TC, ASC, reliable, good warranty, OK performance, Full chassis, practical etc. Does fine for the above:)

We get the Rangie back on the road and life will be great:)
For Tas I will completely strip the front and rear diffs, swivels,brakes etc. Put all maxi drive gear in with 4.11 cwps and HD steering gear.
I will leave the rest pretty much stock and run 31" tyres.
The weakest link will be the old 3.5 and BW transfer. May as well run her into the ground.
Back to the old Rangie thread. The 120 is going fine and have got those iron horses going again:cool:

Nothing to do with Love ( Maybe a little bit:D) But if she doesnt drive it a few times during the week the battery goes flat and I have to spend hours charging it on the weekend instead of driving itQuote:

We solved the issue.. She has a Transit (puma engined) and the Disco II and i have the defender.. i still have a landy to drive regardless!

Tony its probably more that the Rangies have Character,
you love them and they love you back,
You punish them and they punish you back (Not ALWAYS a bad thing),
You sit high in the saddle with excellent vision,
And weirdly enough my 26 year old RR has a better ride long distance than my Daily Euro thumper.
And lastly........
I get nods, waves and the odd quick flash (High beam not body bits sadly) from other Classic RR and Landy owners.
Something you don't get from many other marques.
Plasti-repmobiles are great for that 4am airport dash or ferrying the kids to school when you NEED reliability etc but If I was to go driving somewhere for fun on a planned trip?
Id take the Rangie.
