Mark was that supposed to be overtly sexual?

    Or was it just me?

Agree with the tail lights but with oncoming cars I always dip just before I know I'm going to see the actual headlights ; with trucks its when I first see the yellow markers because the driver's eyes will be way higher than his headlights and I bet getting hit with high beam is one of their pet hates.

    cheers, DL

    as the law states,,
but then I dont have a problem with high beams behind me,,
    dont your rearview mirrors dull?
(and thats the only one that could be a problem,,)
and when I'm following, if its a choice between me seeing the road at 100kph and you,, well, you lose.

Oncoming traffic - dip when I see the loom of the lights. Traffic going the same direction, when I can see their lights unless they are far enough in front that either they are not telling me where the road is, or I assess that there is a probability of roos trying to cross the road between us. This depends on circumstances such as whether the road has edge marking, guide posts etc, and the time of night and amount of timber.

Same as John here except instead of roos our country roads often have stray cows and horses, and sometimes sheep. Horses and cattle are death to drivers.

Yeah. There's a big difference between following the letter of the law and being a courteous driver.

I dip my lights whenever I think there is a chance I will be dazzling other drivers. Given how bright my high beam lights are, that can be from a very long way away.

    What does the law state?

My door mounted rear view mirrors don't have a dimmer setting on them, do yours?

i drop mine as soon as i see tail lights in front of me.........which probably doesn't happen much as i'm in a defender and probably not travelling at the posted speed limit which is a debate in its own
