    Defender centre console/seat

I never liked the centre storage box in my Defender cab chassis and could never understand why LR fitted such a useless piece of crap. I made up a 'below floor' storage compartment similar to the 2A one to utilise all the available space around the gearbox then relocated the computer socket and made up the seat base and back, hinges and control arm to raise the seat base. Seat back when lowered becomes a very comfortable armrest complete with drink holders and small change pocket. The seat back secures with a strap at the front and is anchored at the back by two similar straps so it doesn't bounce. I don't use it as a centre seat very often as it is a bit cramped and I haven't fitted a seat belt but it is better than having someone trying to sit on the cubby box and looking like a shag on a rock.

A couple more photos. All the mounting points and hinges used the existing bolts and fittings. I had an upholster mate do the vynil work in as close a match to the original material. the existing seat belts a little tight to do up but once connected don't impinge on comfort at all.

did that only take you two beers to do the job?
or is it the fourth or fifth six pack you started?

    2010 Defender Centre seat

Does anybody know of anyone who has fitted a centre seat to a new puma engined 90 series Defender. I know I can get a hold of one!
