Is that off centre as in leaning on an angle?

Don't get me wrong, but, it is supposed to seal on the end, not around the nut, so being off centre shouldn't really matter.

By the looks of the one you have, the flat are normally the metric hoses and the round are the imperial, according to the manuals. The rangie hoses I bought for the FFR actually had one flat and one rounded end. Swap them around and see what happens.

    different hose mate

the chamfered sealing face is so out of round with the threaded shank that it cant possibly seal. it misses being symmetrical by about 1mm

i know the hoses you are talking about but that is not how this hose works unfortunately. this hose has a chamfer at both ends.

but wish you were right tho as i have a few in my spare parts bin...

I see what you mean now. at first look it seemed like the threaded body was offset to the right of the hex nut, and concentrating on the chamfer I see the difference in the shoulders of the threads< on the left and > on the right.

    Bugger.

Hope you know a set of 5 braided lines from Paddocks is less than $100, guaranteed for life; they come in 2 & 4" extended versions and are a beautiful thing.

    And pedal response is improved.

Quite a few years ago I got a carburetter kit for the Zenith. The new needle valve had exactly the problem you show, and was useless - could not be screwed in.

The retailer who sold me that has lost a lot of my custom as a result! They replaced it, but that is not a lot of help when you find this while the thing is apart, it is Saturday afternoon, you have to mail the offending part to them, and it takes a week at least before the new replacement arrives - and your confidence that the new replacement will be any better is not that great. And in any case you need it back on the road today!
