Well it was reminiscent of a scene from the Castle. But with a bit more of a red neck? feel to it. Well we do have to amuse our selves some how.Any way I`m building a carport. Problem was my son`s Hilux. It is not going any time soon,as it needs a new cross member, the fuel tank is out and as is the rear tail shaft. It`s sitting smack in the middle of the new carport landing. I had tonight first towed it up our drive way a bit and put up one section of the carport wall. Then with the slope of our drive way I reversed and let the Hilux roll back onto the flat area. All good so far. Son finally gets home from work. Minister of war and finance make a unusually good suggestion. Why not park it off the drive way up near the gate.Fine ,lets get to it. First we will have to move the sons work ute, then the Delica and finally my ute. Son and I decide the best way is to winch the Hilux into position. So I get the rover into a good spot and attach a snatch block to the steel fence post. Got the Hilux most of the way, then the post started to move. Luckily there is a tree that at first was not suitable due to the cable angle, but was now ok to use. So all ended ok. Had recently fixed a stuck solenoid and moved the solenoid pack into the engine bay. So the winch has been well tested. Was all a bit of fun
Have in the past at our place had fun in a 4wd themed way. Done a lap or two around the back yard in various 4wds. We have a large back yard courtesy of a half acre block. And there is a short but steep embankment to descend to get onto the lower section of our back yard then you have to climb back up to get out. Waiting for summer then I will be taking the ute for a belt around the back yard.
