Never said my rig was the greatest. There is always a better rig than what you think is the greatest. I switched off to them back in the last incident with them so I will admit I havn't seen the changes. Must be at least 2 years now since I bought or visited their site, maybe even longer.

    This quickly turned to ****.
All that from a post to see if some of us wanted to send some pics for a magazine for some fun.
They are cars, its as simple as that. Not hearts or lungs or some other vital organs. Perhaps there is some truth in many posts here but it is a Landy site after all and some of us are possibly more enthusiastic than some.

I often take a bit of a swipe but seriously, its only ever in jest.
Lets just relax and if someone wants to send some pics in so be it.
Some of us have and quite rightly, its a bit of a thrill to see ones own rig in print, bit of an honour really.

Its not meant to be a life changing experience--Just fun.

C'mon people, we all know if you buy a LR in oz, you have to expect a good ribbing from the rest of the 4wd community - it comes with the badge!

Their "patronising" statement is nothing more that what we get from anywhere else. But who cares?

I think any exposure is good exposure - hell someone might get the mag and go, wow that looks pretty good and go get a LR, then they come on here, and we get a new forum member and someone to go on our forum trips! All good!

I love seeing LR's in the mag. Outcasts rangie was sweet on the DVD, and some of the discos and defs in the mag in the past have been great.

Boy, a lot of fuss over nothing really, I think it was only a question that required a yes or no answer

Our Disco was in the mag (although we are still waiting for the free mag they promised us) so we haven't actually seen the artical, they asked nicely and we said yes, would I do it again, no, we have been asked on numerous occasions, but I'm not really interested, if you want to do it, then do it, if you don't then don't, easy really
    Cheers Baz.

I may consider putting the 120" in yet. It just may look a bit rough compared to the much loved weekend warriors as is an every day work/touring truck. I cant keep it pristine
From following your threads, I reckon your 120" is one of the finest examples of what Land Rovers are built for.
It works, because it has to. It's got a job to do, and keeps doing it.
If something isn't working right, it gets fixed. Preferably over-engineered

The mags of the 80s and 90s (I used to read Bushdriver, Overlander, 4x4 Australia) weren't derogatory towards a single marque or brand, except when the reviewer had to be critical about negative points on a product/vehicle. 4x4 action seems continually derogatory in the way they have cheap shots at Rovers, and don't even try to get their information correct when reviewing the vehicles. The quality of the journalism just isn't up there.

Finally, I don't see why I would need to have met the staff to know how they write, maybe they are great blokes who all covet Landies. Great. That doesn't come across in the mag, and since I am reading said mag, thats how i'll judge that mag. Chip on the shoulder or not.
Yes agreed. I've subscribed to 4wd monthly/action for a few years and their Toyota/Nissan bias sometimes sickens me. Their reviews on Land Rovers always begin with "oil leaks" or "poor reliability" Land Rover are pioneers, pioneers make mistakes because no one before them has done it. Like permanant 4x4, coil springs, ABS, Airbag suspension, SRS airbags, 4 wheel disc brakes, ACE, terain responce ect ect ect. It comes down to personal choice, but I would not drive a Toyota even if my Disco is P***ing me off at the moment. They have their issues too. Weak front diffs on a bordering on dangerous IFS, crap 5spd manuals, 4.2 TD's spitting crankshafts ect. Every car has issues.

Hell I have a go at toyota drivers and nissans. and its all in good fun. not every 4x4 is perfect. defenders arent perfect, or they wouldnt leak, disco 3 and 4's arent perfect or they wouldnt have random electrical gremlins. LC 200 and the oil problem, 79 with the wider front track, and thats the ones they i hear 3rd hand, word of mouth. How many toyota farmer owners have gone to nissan since the intro of the V8 diesel. I know of only one but, im sure there is more. LC still have the leaf spring in the 21 century, nissan with a gutless 4.2 TD and problematic 3.0L. I was, for one race, a navi in a big nissan ute and the amount of work (around $15g) just to the engine and it only came out with 125rwkw. What the? I think i could do that with a VNT turbo, larger IC, remap and exhaust, and increased boost on a TD5, but i wouldnt race the car in something like OC or ironman challenge. the electric just might let it down......

This mag chip or not on the shoulder, it was just a bait to see if we (LR owners) will respond to get in the mag. Lets face it, we arent, like some have said, into penis extensions, but we have good 4x4'S, for camping and touring. LR owners arent into showing off our 4x4, and we arent the best selling 4x4 in the BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, AUSTRALIA. I say get into the mag, show the rest of the 4wd community they are good cars. Maybe more people will buy them, after all LR dosnt advertise well.

Who cares if your car isnt ready, mine wasnt and I did it. They just wont photograph that part. All i hope is someone sees my car and thinks, "I want one like that". They go buy one, becomes more popular, blah blah blah....

Hey and Roothy grew up in a LR family.

    my 2 cents worth.
That does not stop him bagging the s**t out of them.

    Wow
I think it's great they're looking for green oval stuff.
    We should encourage it.
They've done LR stuff before, and even Land Rover special issues.

Though they should credit AULRO where asked to, or when they source vehicles and info from here.

I think the Toyo/Nisso bias thing is getting less and less, and landies are getting more 'go' in the mag and videos.
There's plenty in this months, and two wicked Bush Rangie (Discos) in the video.
They've got staff that have LR's, had features on LR's and ads containing Landies a plenty now.

They're asking for stuff, we should give it to em with pride, and educate them, not whine and say and say they just love Toyos and Nissans.
