If it has Malamute never let it off the leash outside.
They are renowned for going bush for days and not giving a rats about obedience.
My son had a Malamute Rotty cross , lovely dog but as wilful as ****.
Get him to the dog beach and the only way to get him back was lots of treats and I have two other friends who had purebreds that did the same.

The one you have probably ran away from some place a long way from your place.
At least it doesn't have the Alsatian droopy arse that breeders seem to love. He's got that great perky malamute tail.

I think you have the same breed of dog as I do.

Its a LERGNOM... looking at it - it may be a pure one... more info shortly..

I'd go along with dullbird and say Akita/Shepard. To me the head's more Akita. My first thought was actually Keeshond/Shepard but the Keeshond are a much smaller breed.

Dunno what breed but it looks like one of those dogs that issues the command 'stay' as well as obeys it.
