Off topic a bit but interesting you had your CC compromised? we had ours done a few months back... $2500 and westpac took a whole 3 minutes to get in contact with us when the transaction went through... your northern burbs too arent you?

the bank said the abusers get lucky with a 5c transaction and then hit it with a big value item after... thats how they detect it..

All scams are a pain but i have been getting great pleasure in dragging long long email conversation out with them just appear as naieve (spelling?) as possible

    Thanks

Its amusing what they will try, they must troll the net looking for poor unsuspecting people, and i'd bet plenty of people fall for it to.

I think they got mine when I replied to what I think now to be a fake SGIO letter asking for CC update and me not being too smart at the time. We have found out that a guy on the Gold Coast had bought Norton program and some clothing from the US on our card imfo. I rang Norton in the US who were only to happy to give us his adress and we have provided this to the police and bank. We picked up the transactions when I went to pay a bill online and freeked. I think we were very luckey it was only a small amount, but what a pain.

My former career (you know, before Land Rovers took over my world ) was Banking and Finance. In the most recent scams in WA we watched one of our colleagues accounts be debited again and again and again as she tried to apply a stop to debits (block). They took over $3000 in 6 seperate debits. The bank was already onto the scam but they were hitting so many customers (across all the banks) it was impossible to protect against it.

Banks are really at their best when it's a non AUD transaction. They can block your card and be on the other end of the phone within 60 seconds if you've not warned them to expect it. Definitely something to remember when going overseas!

Just got an email from Debbi Jenson re my tyres for sale, if I organise pay pal she will get her shipping company to collect them, tells me she is an oceanographer at sea at the moment and is buying them for her father. I suggested the chance of this is that the chief Rabbi of Israel will be the next Pope

Well Debs is providing a bit of entertainmet for me...here's a sample of her e-mails and my replies in bold...she's being strung along somewhat; now for suggestions on how to scam her?

    "1995 Falcon EF XR6
Hello i saw your item listing and am interested i want to know if you still have this item available for sale?i can only pay through pay pal and after payment has been made i will make the necessary arrangement for the item pick up.please get back to me asap.
    Thanks."

    Hi Debby,

Yes the XR6 is still for sale. I'm not sure exactly how pay pal works. Where are you located currently?

"Thanks for the mail you can send me the pics and get back to me with your PayPal email and your best price for the item and after the payment have been made my shipping company will come to your location for the pick up of the item.after I have made the payment PayPal we send the notification to your mail that I have paid to your account.I wait your response.
    Thanks."

I'm not sure exactly how pay pal works. Where are you located currently?

"okay you will need to send me your paypal email,so that I will transfer the money online to your paypal direct,so get back to me asap."

Well could you send me a how to on Pay Pal...like I said I don't know how it works

"after I have made the payment PayPal we send the notification to your mail that I have paid to your account.I wait your response. And i located in USA"

I'm really sorry I don't know what a paypal e-mail is. I've used paypal once about two years ago and probably need to sign up again as I don't know where my paypal e-mail is. I would like a sale asap as well so you're help in this matter would be appreciated. Could you send me a linst of what I need to do to get pay pal set up?

It would be better if there is another way to transfer the money to me or do you only use paypal?

So you're American? A True American I see as you are a Ford lover. How many Aussie Falcons do you import? How do you go with the right hand drive in America? I can assure you that with a little bit of work on the engine it will be a very fast car as it already is.

You asked for pictures? Don't you already have these off the website? Also my best price would be $5500 ($250 cheaper than advertised).

I've just got rude to her but its like water of a ducks back, the emails keep coming. It will be interested if they continue tonight after the serving I gave her last night. Maybe I should have gone down your path and had some fun. I took the step of reporting her tp PayPal this morning so we will see

Deb's has woken up...here's what she has to say tonight..." was just about to make the payments when i had this little problem with the picking up of the item , I am currently on sea and i tried to book pick up with my pick up agent, but they asked me to pay first before they can make the booking, and they only accept western union money transfer for payments and they don't accept paypal or bank transfer and I tried to send the money online but i couldn't and I am on sea and there is no way i can find a western union agent to make the transfer to my pick up agent, so i wanted to ask if it was ok for me to include my pick up agent's fees in the payments I am about to send through paypal, my pick up agent charged $700 plus insurance and all of that, please can i include their money in the payments I want to send then after i have made the payments you will help me forward the $700 to my pick up agent through western union money transfer, this I would have done myself and not bother you but the for the fact that I am currently on sea, so after I have made the payments you will help me send $700 to my pick up agent through western union money transfer, I just wanted to seek your consent before going ahead with the payments,I will more than appreciate if you mail me back, and I will be making the payments shortly. PS:the shipping company's Head quarters and any pick up fees to be paid is sent to their head quarters by the payee, so the money for pick up will be sent to their head quarters through western union money transfer(this can be done from any post office) at western union or money grams."
