    Is this a scam

A phone call from a person wanting to use this vehicle in the Malaysian Rain forests preceded this Email

Thanks a lot. I have read everything about the car on the website and
    everything is okay by me.
I have actually tried to get this car here earlier from here but most
of the ones I got either have one huge mechanical fault or the other
and some have even had accidents in the past while some are extremely
    exorbitant.
As to the price, Price is Ok. So if you deem
the offer good enough, I will be very glad to make the payment asap
through my PayPal account as I am currently offshore and I won't
    definitely be able to
make it to my bank to make bank wires across to you.
As to shipping, you need not worry yourself about how the car will get
to me here in the Malaysia as I will contact a shipping company here who
    will handle that.
Do get back to me asap with your PayPal Email address and Full name so
that I can remit the payment asap.

Is this the scam .........if so how does it work???

It certainly sounds like it. See e-Bay Scam ?.

Now Google this phrase from your email "I am currently offshore and I won't definitely be able to make it to my bank to make bank wires across to you."

See how many hits for exactly the same words come up?

    O.K.
So if you set up a pay pal Account linked to a bank account with no money in it .
Wait for Pay pal payment and withdraw it before parting with vehicle are you safe

    Scam?

I got roughly the same response from someone supposedly working offshore when I was selling a boat recently. G/Son got virtually the same word for word that you did when selling a car.
Send them an extremely rude "eff off' and you'll never here from them again. I did and it worked well.

I sold a subaru liberty recently on carsales, and had two different people try this scam. I bounced it off paypal, and they said there is no way you can get burnt by setting up an account.....but that is NOT the scam. It has been described before. The SCAM is they want you to pay shipping charges, via paypal, prior to payment. I did set up an account, and then stated I wasdnt paying shipping come hell or high water, and never heard from them again.....I then promptly sent there details off to the AFP.

The car eventually sold via "conventional" means....someone came and drove it, then paid folding stuff.....my kind of deal.

^^ This is how the scam works.

    1. They will pay using a hacked paypal account and send you a little extra for the shipping.

    2. You pay the shipping company (which is actually them) with the money they sent you. They get their cash.

    3. Someone reports their account hacked, and all the money will be refunded to them from you, inclusing the amount you have payed for 'shipping'. If you have drained the funds from your account, some poor gullible sap is out of pocket and paypal will harass you for the money. The scammers have their money, so they don't care, someone else can deal with the problems.

I had many emails from people 'overseas'. They will always ask your lowest price and won't argue about it, even if you tell them the 'best price' it twice what you listed it at in the ad.

    Another Scam?

I have a vehicle advertised on this forum and this forum only. Got an e-mail this morning...

"Hello i saw your item listing and am interested i want to know if you still have this item available for sale?i can only pay through pay pal and after payment has been made i will make the necessary arrangement for the item pick up.please get back to me asap."

Sounding pretty suspicious to me. Anyone else recieved a similar e-mail?
Also can you view cars for sale without an account?
