Huckster,
I agree that imposing another tax is a dumb way of solving a complex problem...but it is all that governments that we elect can do.
The rest is up to us...and I am as guilty as the next person on this forum when it comes to pouring CO2 into the atmosphere.

As note is the science report climate does change a lot over time. So as also posted, how much is humans contributing to global climate change. long be fore global warming was fashionable I saw a doco done about a how it was possible that earth had a much dirtier atmosphere than now, Also that trees still had this in there genetic make up. So the cloned a tree. Then placed one in a today atmosphere and one in a climate they theorised that was around when there was a lot more volcanic activity and a lot more pollution than we have now. To day tree grew as expected. Test tree thrived. Sort of goes to prove that at some stage plants and the earth was a lot different. There a lot of example that are well known . Middle ages mini ice age which was after a very warm period were they were harvesting grapes in a Mediterranean like England. The sun also plays a big part. Was from school I learnt that there are two Sun cycles that affect our weather a 7 year and a 11 year cycle of expansion and contraction. This is not to the last second but roughly these times. Weather events can be plotted to coincide with these cycles. So for scientists to start banging on about how man is all responsible for our climate and how it is now. Fair suck of the suace bottle. Sure we may be contributing a bit and not helping things but to say we have control over nature pfft. Will only take one decent eruption and we`II all be on the climate cooling band wagon. When Krakatoa whent up the world temp dropped and that was not a big eruption by example of earlier eruptions that have accrued. Yes I gree the climate is changing, but as it all ways has and as it all ways will. Just that there are now people who have learnt how to make stupid amounts of money from a natural event.
Cheers Hall
Man made or not ( not ) the climate will have changed by about 15 degrees by the time I read all that......
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Hi Hall.
Here's an email from my Bro in Switzerland who watches the never ending hordes of pollies and bureaucraps from around the World who are doing just what you say... making heaps of money and leading first clas life styles pushing this rubbish onto the poor old long suffering taxpayers of the west.
"Your esteemed Mr Krudd - master of climate change - is on a UN committee of 21 discarded politicians that are going to get the farce on the road again . Maybe he will sort out the latest scam . Chinese chemical makers who were getting valuable and saleable Certified Emission Reductions which they claimed for destroying a bad greenhouse gas that their normal operations gave off ,HFC 23 , came up with a new trick . They intentionally produced tons more of the stuff than they normally would . It was the easiest way they ever made money - don't have to make other things and have the problem and cost of selling it , just make the dangerous stuff and the UN pays you millions to destroy it .
Plus no one really knows if it was destroyed , more likely some corrupt local official got paid to rubber stamp the papers certifying destruction ..
Plenty more money like that in the bottomless pit . Soak a few Aussie mining companies and more will be syphoned off to the Chinese .. Not just the Chinese either ; a German power utility that has lost money for years produced less polution because its customers bought less energy due to the recession , claimed free EU carbon credits for being good boys, sold them at an enormous profit and made its first profit in decades .
Wonderful World ."
Oh to be a pollie and get onto a gravy train like this and all the other wonderful worldwide scams paid for by us.
Alan.
