He quoted Caltite because it is currently regarded as THE product. And he says a significant percentage of marine concrete structures (other than boats) never receive a lick of paint. He also wondered if the cost of initial painting, repairing damage and coating failure, and regular recoating is economic given the expected life span of the structure. How long would the builder expect a concrete hull to last in service? What is the annual budget for painting?

All boats require regular painting whether ferro , glass ,timber or steel.
We painted the whole outside of the hull with tar epoxy then used silver primocon then the antifouling. It needed less maintenance than other materials and if paint was knocked off the marine worms cant eat it.
