From the press release I'd say only WA at the moment. However given that it is a result of Telstra withdrawing a facility I would say eventually the whole of Aus.

Maybe the asian fishing boats can use some of these redundant frequencies and leave 8022 and 5455 to the rest of us

Going off the selcall numbers it might be all of Aus or they have set it up that way for the future?
That is just wrong. There are still many people who only have HF. I know I sure as hell can not afford to buy a Sat phone and anyway all the ones I have used have been unreliable at best.

I see your problem....but the HF system has many shortfalls when compared against new technology avilable now. Particularly cost vs availability and reliabilty and responsibility.
There will be many fans of HF upset by the above comment, but HF, as a primary remote communication system, has already gone the way of Beta did with VHS video tapes. For organistaions with huge costs and overheads HF is big committment for rapidly dwindling usage.
cheers
Of course Sat Phones are dropping in price too

If you are a member of VKS-737 and have tried to log in on a sced time, I don't know if you would agree with the comment "Dwindling usage". Sometimes you can't get in at all with the number of persons trying to log in
HF is a great system for remote communication and I have used it many times when out the back of whoop whoop.
If VKS are going to relay mesages to RFDS then this will be the best of both worlds.
