    4wd camper/sleeper

    hi
iam looking at a van or 4x4 prefer a 4x4 which i can set the back up with a bed?
from what i can see mitsu delica and landy defender may be all right but a cruiser looks to be best suited.
does a defender have enough room to put a bed on the floor in the back?
towing a trailer is not an option as ill all ready be towing a trailer.
id prefer a defender as i dont feel like changing oil every 5'000km

Disco 1 and 2 are too short to sleep in the back, disco 3 you could. If you want to sleep in the back you are better off to get a ute/trayback as that way you have plenty of room. More info required to give a more accurate answer, how many people travelling with you, does the vehicle need to be a daily driver etc

    How about one of these?

Its a Trayon, and will fit nicely on the back of a dual cab Defender 130.

    Just a thought.

Not quite understood. Irrespective of manufacturers specs any diesel should have its oil/fliter changed every 5000km under normal operating conditions.

I've got a couple of mates who both sleep in the back of their Defenders, 1 with his wife in there as well.
They've removed the back seats and don't have cargo barriers so have plenty of room on top of shelving which most of their gear goes under.
Would be a bit too claustrophobic for me but they like it and have very little to do in the way of set up at camp time.
More time for a wee drink or three

Not for a TD5, Every 20,000 by the handbook, unless in severe conditions.

And severe brings it back to 10,000km.

Tons of room in a Defender for a bed.

I have a bed in mine - will take a pic tomorrow, too dark now.

If you want to you could put some bins/drawers etc. in the middle part, bring the height up to the sides and you have tons of room - the whole width of the vehicle to sleep on.
