General reliability of D3 or RR?

    hi,
looking around on car sales i have noticed that the D3s and some Range Rovers have dropped into the sub 40k margin, so just wondering what the reliability of them is?
i would be going for a diesel if i could get one, so more about them than the petrol.

we used to have a RRC and loved it until we had a few electrical issues with no mechanics seemed to be able to find what the problem was (mind you it had done over 260,000kms when i bought it) with no history.

but now my wife doesnt think they are very reliable, but i think that is a bit of a ferfie.

but she will need some convincing anyway.

    cheers,
    Smac

Once bitten twice shy. If it was to let you down, even once in say next ten years, you will hear"I told you so".

yeah i know, but she used to love driving the rangie!
the issue ended up being really simple stepper motor...

i did hear stories from a few LR Mechanics saying that after 1997 LR's were a lot more reliable and they were mechanics that didnt work for a dealer either, but not sure really.

mine tdv6 hse d3 has 150,000 km and no real problems. Keep it serviced. Do an auto trans fluid change at 100,000 and it should be a happy relationship.

Have a look through the D3 section for more info on the cars.

The petrol d3's have dropped below 40K the tdv6 is still generally over the 40K mark.

All cars will have some problems at some stage in their life.
