    ford box into disco

    hi everyone,
i have just had my disco 2 auto gear box **** it self, and was looking for a cheaper option to fix, so i was wondering if the ford 4speed auto woul fit, or if any body knows of a good cheap disco auto out there or where to get one?

Send a PM to Bundalene from this site. He's not exactly local to you but he's very helpful & can ship parts interstate.

The Ford auto would not fit. Assuming it was identical in the bolt up to the engine(which I doubt) the rear mainshaft would not mate to your transfer box. And I am sure the electrical side of it would not be compatible with the Disco.

It's a bit like back in the 80's when Borge Warner made auto's for Ford, Sigma's and some Toyota's (corona). They all had the same main case and did share a lot of internals but all had different input and output shafts so could not be interchanged.

5 speed manual for the same three manufactures, Same deal. Different input and output.

if it is an auto then the only box that mates up is either the ZF4HP22 or the ZF4HP24E depending on the year the 22 is from the early ones pre electronic shift

    Not sure about the manuals
