oookay then......have i answered my own question, and noone has done it...but cant see a problem?
Meh....i'll give it a crack soon and post up the results![]()
...I haven't seen it done, but am looking to adapt a 2nd hand one for mine. Is there a reason I am missing that people haven't/don't do it? Or is it just that 130 drivers tend to use the tub for carrying wheel etc?
Cheers,
Moorey

Yes it's been done, no it wasn't me so can't direct you to the relevant posts/thread.
IIRC ridjidij might have been one that's done/doing it.
I'm going the bonnet fitting myself.
All I need is the checker plate and the mounting kit from Dolium Pty Ltd
Or make up the mounting kit myself, whatever will be easy.

It's actually not easy to adapt a wheel carrier from, say, a 110 wagon to a 130 because of the overhang of the tub over the rear chassis. I initially thought it would not be too difficult to modify a wagon carrier to fit, but I ended up having to make a completely different chassis mount with the stub axle pointing downwards.
So far I've only got to the stage of building the first prototype. You can see a couple of pics on this page >>>>> Wheel carrier

Nice looking unit.....i'll have a 'suck it and see' crack at it at some stage and see how i go, but yes, overhang on the 130 is a consideration
When I first started looking at buying a second hand 130, I test drove one in Brisbane that had a wheel carrier hanging off the back of the tub. The bloke informed me he purchased a the frame off a Toyota surf from the wreckers and grafted that onto the back of 130 tub. It was a very neat job.
I did think about doing it to mine at one stage, but the overhang issue killed that....especially with a trailer attached.
I carry a spare in the tub and on the bonnet.
Cheers
