    Camel 110 Rolled - Darwin

    Guys,

I've just had word that some friends of mine have just made it back into Darwin after rolling their Camel 110 in the Borroloola area. They are both fine, as were the occupants of the other car involved.

However... Both cars are a bit of a mess!!

Chassis broken, front end smashed up, bent axle, bulkhead, body panels, etc... They hit a D3 with a camper on the back, so I don't know if it's anyone from here??

Current plans are to cut the trip short & go home as it is going to be far too expensive to get it repaired locally. Sounds simple but even that has problems as they have worked out it'll be cheaper to get the 110 driven the 4000Km down to Sydney and shipped back to the UK from there!

It also doesn't help matters that as an overseas vehicle, they were only able to get 3rd party cover so all costs are coming out of their pocket.

I'm going to give them a call in the morning to see how they're doing but in the mean time, I was wondering how difficult/expensive getting hold of 300TDi bits are out in Oz??? (The big bits coz the motor, etc... should still be OK.)

Also... If there is anyone who happens to be driving from Darwin to Sydney with an empty trailer, let me know.

Interesting reading. It was a bit rich that some bloke wanted to knock off the roof racks while its lying on the side of the road.

Very sorry to hear about the acccident, what a mess for all concerned. What an awful way to end a holiday of a lifetime. Good that everyone is OK.

As for transport back to Sydney, give Shaws Transport in Darwin a call, they are sending empty road trains back to Sydney daily and I have seen then carry the occasional damaged vehicle.

If that doesn't work out, there are a few other trucking companys which specialise in this vehicle movement.

Completely heartbreaking. What a mess. Pretty sad way to end a trip around Australia.

Hope they get it sorted and back on the road again, and don't have to write it off.
