we headed off towards Mt Isa the next day and we heard that flood waters were coming so once again another long day of driving. We ended up making camp about an hr east of Mt Isa where we had our first major problem.
The handle on the tailgate broke now you are probably thinking not so much of a problem but unfortunately it was as I had a plank of wood set up in the back that stopped us being able to undo the cover plate on the back of the handle so we had to pull everything out including undoing the wood plank and put it all back which took about an hour just so i could undo 4 screws.
We got up very early the next morning in fact it was still dark.
we got to Mt Isa at dawn and I must admit it wasnt as bad as I had thought.
So we fuelled up including the jerry can and made way.
we were going to stay at devils marbles or there abouts but we got there at around 1.30pm and it was raining so we decided to go to alice for the night instead.

I cant remember the name of this place if it was whitecliffs or something like that, the ufo place and we couldnt go across the causeway because it was like this

in fact we were quite lucky as there was a lot of flooding out there just a few days before us that could have stopped us

We had a quick look around Alice and stocked up on food and fuel again and then left for a nice drive to Kings Canyon camp ground where we had a good swim.
Now this next day whoa was it a cracker and a big one at that.
we got up and packed up so we could get up on top of Kings Canyon for sunrise and yes we were the first ones up there.

It was a really good walk and I am glad we got up early for it.
so it was time we headed towards Uluru where we were going to stay the night.
saw this little baby when we stopped at the crossroads

so we got to the camp area and set up camp and had lunch and decided to do the Olgas
We did the full walk which was fun

We decided to stop at Uluru on the way back and do the walk up to the top but it was closed due to winds at the summit.
So instead we did the 9/10km base walk which was ok and we were lucky enough to make it back and get in the car to watch the sunset on the rock and it was really nice watching it glow

so we did kings canyon, the olgas and Uluru all in one day included unpacking and setting up camp as well as driving too and fro all in one day.
The next morning we drove to Coober Peedy which well we will just say it wasnt our cup of tea and reminded me of mad max.
We were quite glad to get out of there and quite glad to make it to Port Augusta which was quite dry and salty
The only highlight of that leg of the trip was seeing emus

we stopped at Port Augusta and had lunch and a shop and decided we would tay the night at Robina or there abouts.
It was a great little drive through the hills there and even better when I saw a line of land rovers parked on the street of this little town and quickly dawned on me where it was so rrrrr and did a u turn and had a quick look there and a chat with the owner.
It was really nice driving around SA with all the old stone buildings made me want to get one.
We got to Robina and it was raining and we heard of floods so we continued on and got to just west of Wagga Wagga and then had to detour through Griffith and other towns which we were quite lucky to get through as well as there were a few spots that were a bit iffy.
But we got to Canberra in the end I think from memory from Coober Peedy to Canberra via flood detours it was around 1850kms and 26.5hrs with a few stops.
so we were quite glad to set up camp at Canberra and have a sleep

The plan was to stay at Canberra for a fair while but we ended up staying there for 2 months where I worked at supercheap auto and stayed with my uncle a bit.
we did a few of the sites there and overall I think Canberra would be a very good place to live and yes we were there in winter.
    The botanical gardens were great

we did questacon which was ok and most of the museums and gallerys and went to question time a few times, my GF was quite shocked at how they behave as in Sweden they dont act like a bunch of brats in a classroom.

and now I am waiting to sort out uni problems before booking a flight and hopefully leaving asap as I am in need of getting away from here and getting back to being with my GF as it has been over 6 months now.
Fingers crossed I can get a few key things sorted before leaving
