Would you travel solo to remote places?

common sence really if you can reasonably expect to see others within say 8hrs or so then maybe, I suppose it depends what you call remote and what you have with you eg mobile, UHF, HF, epirb etc

When traveling from warburton to ayers rock many years ago I saw maybe one person every 5-8hrs so no biggie, I was talking to a group, (travelling a different route) that hadn't seen another person for 5 days, in that case no, no, and no.

Yes. Been doing it for fifty years - and, as mentioned above, not many places can be described as remote today! Worth noting though, every time I travel to town I do almost twenty kilometres along a road where if I had a breakdown or other problems would possibly have to wait weeks for another vehicle.

Have done and would do again. I've travelled alone in remote areas of places like El Salvador and Nicaragua and have done single vehicle stuff in Australia, including the Canning in a Series III.

You need to think long and hard about self sufficiency and have an emergency plan up your sleeve. So long as you prepare the vehicle properly, do your research and have a plan, it is a fantastic way to travel.

Hey thanks all for your thoughts, and I love the fact that you NomadicD3 and a mate drove a sigme up the cap, fantastic. And it's interesting to see most of you seem to agree that there is not many times when you would be alone. I also agree communication and preparation would the key requirements.
I may just consider doing the an trip solo given my wife won't be in it these days. ;) Thanks again everyone.
