Should the taxpayer fund housing for wounded Vets?

My brother in law works for vet affairs

He told me 70% of vets don't know what they should get but moan about what they don't get but never ask

A wounded in action vet gets DVA Gold card for life and the life of his wife and with that you medical attention ASAP you get alot of free stuff with those cards. But as said alot of vets don't know they can have one
My wife works in a hospital and when that card is flashed then all the stops are pulled out and full gold service gets rolled out no expense spared

We most certainly should pay. I would add however, I don't see our enlisted service people as anything different from any other Commonwealth public servants. They are all serving the country. Be it a fisheries inspector, an Antarctic expeditioner or an office worker, if they are injured on the job then appropriate support should be given by their employer (ie the taxpayer).

unfortunatly many at vet affairs think it is there job to fight all claims not look after the vets i had 2 claims knocked back on the 3rd attempt i was told how to apply so it would be approved, it was the same as i had sent in in the first place :eek:

I doubt that we can ever repay the debt (so to speak) to these wounded vets and their equally wounded families, but I wonder what we can do.

Health services are woefully inadequate for chronically disabled people, particularly young adults and aged care homes are very much the wrong environments.

What can we say about mental health services? If you go outside the inner city suburbs there aren't any mental health services!

If nothing else I feel that we should get behind the RSL's push and write to our local Federal member and the Minister for Veterans Affairs demanding that they do something.

Of course we should, Its a small price to pay for someone risking their life and their future. How easy do they find the billions/billions to accommodate the illegal immigrants/boat people. Look after our own first I say.

They might be serving the country, but they don't have bullets fired at them. Full support to all veterans.!!!!

Why not we pay anywhere from $50.000 to $70.000 to house crimanals .
