    Armed Hold Up

My 20 yo son works at the Shepparton cinema. Last night a moron came in and pulled a gun and shoved it in his face. He then demanded money before revealing that it was a hoax and the gun was not real. Never less the police treat this nearly as serious as a real hold up and they are searching for the purp. It was on Win news tonight.

Dont idiots like that realise what effect these "jokes" can have on people?

Hope your son is ok, and the police catch up with the perp soon.

See the police caught up with one in Adelaide last night. Guy was on parole, and had a long history, and was wanted for a string of armed holdups.

He found out what happens when you point a shot-gun at the STAR group. One less low-life that wont be going thru the court system. Straight to the morgue for him.

What a ******..Hope they catch him and nail him, that sort of stuff can cause all sorts of emotional problems..Hope your son is Copeing with it well, and not to shaken-up..

Problem is the Courts will slap his wrists and he will think its acceptable behaviour..

Catch Him take him out bush give him a shovel and tell him to start digging a 6 ft hole and see how he like 's it.... The thought of digging his own grave may change his mind and Attitude..

    Cheers Ean

cant believe the little ****s that think its funny..... and "nearly" as serious? even though the idiot later revealed that its a fake gun, he'd still end up charged with several very real offences as well as at least one firearms charge.......

Son is coping ok. It has not done any phycological(spelling?) damage. Apart from having to put clean jocks on it was just another day at work once the event had finished.

As for the idiot in Shepparton he risks being shot or at very least hurt badly by Police, security or members of public trying to do the right thing, one day I hope someone returns the favour.... was this a 'stunt' that will end up on You tube? seems more common lately...

    as for the article above.......
    I've always said,
"live by the sword, die by the side of a cold gutter alone."

I feel sympathy for his family, for his victims and for the Police involved but he made his own choices... I do not enjoy the memories these bring up as some would know from a previous post, I truely hope the Police involved are supported and coping well

The police have caught the perp. He is only 17 therefore will go to kiddies court and probably get a smack on the wrist.

A subject I can speak of first hand:

I was the victim of an attempted armed hold up by a teenage male a couple of years ago. Being somewhat familiar with weapons I determined that the handgun being brandished at me was a replica and indeed the way the young fella was waving it about and his lack of control of the weapon I recon if it was real (which again I was sure it was not) the person in greatest danger was the offender himself.

Long story short, I called his bluff and after many heated words he decamped without any money. I immediately called police as I feared he would try this stunt on someone else.

Eventually the offender was caught, slap on the wrist and family counselling!

As for me: I was deemed by the authorities to have committed a heinous misdemeanour by not giving the offender my money. I spent more time filling out reports, justifying my actions and defending myself. The offender was entitled to free legal aid yet as the victim I was not!

The reason we have so many offences like this is too many criminals know most people will just give the money over per company SOP's.

Please do not give me the "no amount of money is worth a life" rhetoric. Had the weapon been genuine and depending on opportunity there could well have been a death and that most likely would not have been me. Then I would certainly have become a criminal in the eyes of our civilised society.
(At least then I would have been entitled to free legal aid)

We have only ourselves to blame for the society we allow to descend into chaos.

    Dave,
When I read about the incident in the paper, I was concerned that your son may have been working that shift. I hope he is well, and that the cinema has offered support.

    Thanks Anthony,
As I posted earlier it has had no effect on him. He is like me, once the threat is removed, change the "Reg Grundies" and move on. I could be involved in a major car crash and if I was unharmed you could give me another car and I would just contiue my journy. My eldest sone is the same.

Now had this incident happened to my younger son(18yo) things could be totaly different.

    Dave.
