I fitted a steam pressure pipe ( the thickest available) to him as a roll bar & again to the next Landie - Lenny. Since 1990 there has been Lex, Lurch and now Lawrence none of whom have had the roll bar fitted & reading this thread has got me thinking... I really should do it again. Snorkel might be a problem though.
I would rate 1 out of 10 the stupidity of the pedestrians before give 4 star to a vehicle because them.Quote:

A user on here (WallabyTed???) rolled a SIII 109" hardtop on a VERY steep hill offroad (complete 180 barrel roll).
About 30 mins of panel beating and some bog was needed to get it back into shape.
The rolls which show flattened roofs on here would likely have seen the same result with any (non roll cage) equipped car. I used to attend damaged vehicle auctions with a panel beater mate and you could see rolled vehicles of any make where you were sure the occupants didn't walk away.
We did a 270 I beleive in the end.
2 New front guards, lower drivers door, new mirrors and 1 windscreen.
Straighted the bent bits, knocked out the dings and shrunk the passenger door skin back into shape (thanks to Isuzurovers neighbour).
From memory I think ben and I spent a couple of hours (3-4) fixing it, then the brother in-law painted it a christmas or two later when he got sick of it being 5 different colours.
Only problem was I didn't tie down anything in the back and some of it (i.e. the high lift jack came into the front), luckily it got me and not SWMBO.
Current defender as the kids are in it all the time has a cargo barrier.

OK, maybe it was longer than 30 mins... Though I do recall Erich walked out and after a few quick whacks with the hammer and dolly had the main dents out of the roof.Quote:

This one looks like one of those JE suped up super sonic roadster rovers. All that there is probably just wind damage as it broke the sound barrier.Quote:

pictures are self explanatory, the defender body is very soft and that has been always a concern for me when I have my family with me.

it doesn't come cheap but it is the only way to secure the occupants.
I did a repair on a rolled late model (71) Series 2a ex army soft top,it went over the side of a rather steep hill/mountain in S.E. Qld, I got it as an uneconomic repair,windscreen and hoops were a throw away,but I straightened the firewall (bent on one side) with the help of Incisor an Oxy set and a large gumtree,and an endless chainblock :) straightened and shrunk the drivers door,then repainted it in lustreless olive drab.
On picking the vehicle up the owner admitted to being "stoned at the time" :mad: if I had known that,I would have offered XYZ for it as is,it was later than mine with a lot less mileage and a re-conned motor.
I definitely think that the Series up to S3 had a far stronger firewall, and the removal of the under screen vents only weakened it further
