i thought shane jacobson did a really great job, he is a great entertainer, and if he is as good as he has been in his movies then i think top gear australia could be a well liked show

Better with Kenny, the other two are not up to IMHO. One person I think would be good would be Peter Rowsenthorn(?) from Can we help/Kath and Kim...very dry delivery and entertaining chap.

They need to break the identical nature of the original and attain their own identity. I know it's a franchise/cross promotion whatever you want to call it bull****, but it will suffer the same fate as the other 2 seasons if it does not break away. From the almost identical silhouetted hosts in the opening credits, through to identical sets/challenges/super cars blah blah blah etc. they need to create an entirely different animal. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but the original is the best, and should be left alone.

I reckon Kenny is the bloke that might be able to do it - he is an inspired choice. But they need to use their imagination and pull a rabbit out of their hat if they want it to succeed.

Very staged as usual, a lot of the dialogue was forced. (and repetitive.....), however the aussie trio worked pretty well together. Shane was the strongest personality by far.

Nothing will "beat" the UK version, especially as all three are so different.

However, it did have some fair entertainment value and genuine laugh moments.

Was I imagining things, but did I hear an offhand comment at one stage mentioning Matthew Newton when two other cars "hit" each other????

I recorded it, so I better watch it this arvo, sounds an improvement. Having any Aussie car show is better than none.

yes it was pretty funny, but it is those sort of things they need to do to make the aussie top gear a success. i felt in the last 2 seasons they did not do enough challenges, i can't even remember if they did one where they had to buy an old car with a certain budget, those ones are my favourite on the uk top gear, well fingers crossed that our boys can make it work.
