Ok Peoples, the Aussie Dollar is not going to get any stronger... nows the time to buy from the USA...

So where are the best sites to purchase LR gear from the US and the UK?

Anyone have any bad experiences? And more importantly where have you had good experiences??

    Thanks,

    Michael

I've bought things on ebay from P.A.Blanchard in the UK. They're on the net I think. I've found them to be good.

    UK & USA

Sorry to folks who encourage purchases in Australia but we suck. We are still getting bronze metals in this event.

    Try these places:-

    Britcar (UK) Ltd

British Parts of Utah-Land Range Rover Sport LR4 LR3 LR2 Discovery Defender Freelander Genuine OEM Accessories Parts

Also look in one other section of this forum for overseas suppliers. There's a another cheaper one in the UK.

They all beat Australia by price and even service. In fact flog us.

    Bought a key & fob for $150 (Australia anywhere from 230 - 340)

Also bought a door latch for $100 (Australia anywhere from 174 - 200) All brand new and genuine.

Best thing to do is make a decent list prior to minimise the P&H.

I have recently bought gear from Brit-car and they are pretty good and I have no hesitation in recommending them. In fact buying more gear as we speak.

    Regards
    Andrew

If you are buying from the USA and your purchases are less than 20 lbs. weight, insist the vendor use U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail flat rate boxes. Check their web site. There are three sizes of box. USPS supplies the boxes no charge. There is no cheaper way of shipping small packages.

Actually, there was an economist on the TV last night suggesting it could go as high as $1.12 - $1.13US. And the thinking at the moment is that it's not going to drop anytime soon (at least not for the next 6 months). Let's face it, the US is an economic basket case and according to what I've read may be about to have its national debt exceed GDP! (Although there is conjecture about how that debt is calculated, but it sounds bad to be even talking about it).

And as far as the Pound is concerned, the UK is not faring much better - so hurrah for us.

I agree with Brian, USPS is brilliant at getting stuff from the US to here. Very efficient service and traceable the entire way.

Dont forget though that if that happens the cost of things in USD will rise.. so we will end up paying the same /in real terms/..
