    Question Landcruiser Park Hints and Tips???

    Hey guys!

    Im planning a trip with my brothers and a coupla mates to go out to Landcruiser Park the weekend after next (30/10/10) in the Disco. Just after some advice on preparation, tracks, do's and don'ts, recommendations etc.

    Ok, this is what I have so far:

    Std ride hieght
    235 70 16 HT Cooper Discovers tyres
    Bow shackle tow bar attachment
    9m 10tonne recovery strap
    several 3mtr slings for towing, winching etc
    shovel
    air compressor (77ltr/min SCA brand)
    20ltr Jerry can full of diesel
    a MASSIVE impatience to get muddy!

    OH! No front end recovery other than the transportation hooks which would be lucky to sustain pulling skin off custard! which I assume is pretty typical of the bog stocko D1 Dicso's?
    My 4WDing experience is minimal, ok so im pretty much green, a few of the fellas i'll be going out to the park with have pretty extensive and extreme 4WDing experience.

    Please, any info I can arm myself with before i go will be a massive benefit to me. I also hope to get a snorkel on before then too!

    I spend a bit of time out Ipswich/Willowbank/Amberley way in the truck, even out toward Esk, Sommerset Dam, Marburg and often wondered where the 4WDing would be good out there! Looks interesting in some places on the trip between Yamanto and Springfield on the new road they built between two also!

    Im keen to explore anywhere the Disco will take me. Unfortunately, between now and when we go to Landcruiser Park, I won't have much time to get out anywhere else

    Even if you long to get the Disco muddy DO NOT be tempted to drive it in the bog holes at the Pig Pen! Just go to the Pig pan and watch the drunken hillbillies do that. Start on the green coded tracks and see what you and the Disco can do. The limiting factor for you will likely be tyres and experience. Also if it's wet (and is looking like it might be) the easy tracks become intermediate and intermediate ones can get you in a world of hurt. Just take your time and enjoy, a little practice before time was good advice though.

    LMFAO! I have been told the same thing by SOOOO many people that I have spoken to about Landcruiser Park!
    I have downloaded the Map of the park and well I know where I WON'T be going LOL

    I was only a newbie in a disco 6months ago..

    so tips... take the easy tracks until your confident and know what your forbie can do...

    watch your mates do the more tricky mud pitts... then copy the one who got through

    and enjoy..

    if you organise a late finish in the area Im certain I can find a certain rev monkey who will play backup and we can head into ripley or kholo of an afternoon.

    G'Day, Disco Balls. Mate you have a few 'local options'for practice. Mt Mee will have a few tracks open despite the rain. Even better is Beerburrum SF. Head north on old Gympie Rd until you get muddy. Plenty of side tracks with puddles to get your eye in. Warning! some verrrrry deep washouts can fill with slurry and get a solid looking crust on top! I've spent several hours scooping slop after getting cross axled solo : ((
    On the western side of Mt Beerburrum is a couple of sqkm with a variety of conditions. only 30 min north of Kallangur.

    @Blknight ... I live at Narangba and when im out Ipswich way in the truck, Im in and around doing deliveries and pick ups, then its straight back to the yard.
    So it'll be better to organise a weekend session out there.


    @Barefoot - Been out to the Beerburrum SF the weekend before last, HAD AN ABSOUTE BALL! Will have to go for a drive up to Mt Mee for a look around maybe next Sunday, also through the State Forrest around Wamuran
