I'd never heard of Karijini before reading this thread. WA is the only Aussie state I'm yet to visit. That swimming hole looks fantastic.......I'll put it on my list of places to visit.

We didn't get there in '08 when we were last in W.A. but looks like top spot...like most of the parks in W.A.

Yeah it is certainly a beautiful spot. You would not think so driving into the park in the desolate Pilbara. Joffre next then Hammersley and Millstream.

It good to see you had a good time, while someone was sitting in a hotel room with cold beer at the ready and phone close to hand.

Looks like you've had a spot of rain up there Craig.

Wasn't that much flow last time I was in there - but then we couldn't get into Millstream because it was flooded at the time.

Was in Newman last week, but only at the airport on the way back here after a couple of days on site. Should be back up there again soon - and maybe get the time to get into town with a vehicle. Will give you a yell when I look like getting a bit of time in town, and if you're not working, maybe get the chance to catch up.

Good to see that they're sealing the Nullagine road - well at least as far as the Christmas Creek / Cloudbreak turnoff anyway (which is only about 20km south of our turnoff). But that means at least that you will have a smooth run out to Kalgans when you want to take the kids out there for a swim.

Stayed at Bonnie Downs homestead last week - it's only about 8 km from our new camp that's being built. Classic old solid timber homestead building and slightly newer concrete building with big verandahs all round (which are used as the dining area) and they've got about 20 dongas on top of the hill close to the homestead. Stunning views out over the mesa country. Will get some photos when I get up there with a bit more time up my sleeve.

Was being driven around the site by the new Mining Superintendent while on site. We could see where we wanted to go, but it was a bit of a round about track and pretty rugged ground in between. The Mining Superintendent made the comment "if we were in a Defender, I could just turn off the track and drive straight across there, but in these Toyotas you really need to keep to the graded tracks or they'll fall apart". He's ex army.
    Cheers .........

Brian, yeah for sure, but I will be in Perth from Sunday 17th til the following Sunday and then back. Have not had too much rain up here, the locals reckon the flow is pretty normal for this time of year.
