I can get you a replacement long range fuel tank, would cost a bit more than what the dealer quoted but its quite a bit larger.
PM me if you are interested with the vehicle details.

Thanks Ace, I have just spent $20 k on a new engine and bits so am feeling wallet battered at the moment. I think its a 1990's 300 tdi tank its metal I know I pulled it off yesterday. I am quoted a replacement for $380. I think I will go with this and then plumb my Series 1/2 tank underneath drivers seat to provide extra 35 litres - this I know I can get out off for half the cost of a new longer range tank.
However I am new to this and if there are better ideas - I am all ears!
Cheers
So - have you now found a tank for $380, and so can ignore the original quote for $1300?
You could try TRS in Lonsdale (Adelaide) as they will probably have a 2nd hand one.
It is a pretty common issue, as gravel gets in between the tank and the guard and wears little pin holes in the tank. We had this issue on an older 300TDi Defender and we chose to replace the tank rather than try and patch the perforated one, but I can't remember how much the new tank cost.....
There is one on ebay at the moment for 99c.
Its for a 1995 Disco and ad says it is 90L.
Better be quick though less than 6 hours to go! (Finishes @ 22.23 tonight)
Its in Vic but surely courier would be less than $350 if its suitable... ;)
I just happen to have a spare td5 defender fuel tank kicking round here with no td5 rover for it to be a spare part for.
