Help please - replacement fuel tank TD5

Hi, as a newbie hope I am in right forum, if not please 'bump' me.

I have a custom Land Rover an dthe tank (looks to be 70/75 litres) is leaking between tank and bash plate. I need to fix, replace with same or preferred a larger tank (as I have a 5 litre V8) and 70 litres is gettingme 350-400k's).

I called a Landie spares dealer in Qld and was quoted $1300 for a replacement - ouch!

Any other suggestions or recommendations. At this stage a fix seems to be the best (read lowest cost) option!

    Thanks

Do you know what the tank came out of, if its a td5 disco then its 90 ltrs, not sure on the defender size..
The Disco tank is plastic and they come out relitively easy, always see them on e-bay..

The TD5 tank is easy to tell as the fuel pump is in the tank, you can hear it whine when you turn the key to Acc..

    Some more info would help..

Its a metal tank and around 70-75 litres - came out and back in OK, had to fix in the bush yesterday with Selleys putty. The pump is in the tank too. It is also built so that side on it has a diagonal seal i.e. the join runs from top left to bottom right and when I google images it looks like the normal Td5 tank.

Yours sounds like it may be an after market tank..I would see if you can get the dimentions of the standard disco tank to see if it will fit, this will bump you up to 90-95 ltrs...

There was a couple on e-bay for sale, maybe contact the seller and get the measurements from them..

    Goodluck,

I dont own a defender so am unsure, the only other option is try Bundalene, he's on here send him a PM he may know what its from and may even have 1 for sale, he's prices will be the best by far, otherwise its someone like TRS in lonsdale SA..

Could be worth seing if the disco tank will fit anyway as it will give you the extra 20 ltrs..

I cant tell as im at work, but it does look like the plastic disco tank..The tank is held in by a metal plate, but its definately plastic..

That could be the defender tank..If yours is metal cant you get it welded ?

Im sure someone with a defender will come on and confirn it or not..there is 1 on e-bay in the disco section , could be worth comparing pics..

That looks to me like a TD5 tank from a Defender (possibly a 90). It looks very much like the one I have fitted to rear of my 300Tdi 90.

Standard Defender Td5 tank is plastic and of 75 litre capacity. At least, it was on my 2006 model. The guard that holds it in is steel.
