    Saving Thousands ($)

I have been looking to update my "S" D3 with some SE pieces, like Bi Xenon headlights, footwell lights, drink holder on passenger side, foglights, and Auto headlights.

I priced them from a supplier in the UK and the total cost will be just over $2K delivered and perhaps a little for entry and duty.
I then decided to see what I would have to pay from the local stealer for the same pieces............................................ .......wait for it ......................
.............Just over $5K............................. why would any body buy locally when the global market can expose the buying and selling practices of Australian distributors??

Why don't you do us all a great big favour and buy a container load or two of all theses goodies, of course, not forgetting to fix up a few minor taxes, levies, shipping and handling fees, export/import licences, agents and customs fees and anything else that just happens to crop up in the process, then rent a warehouse and store these cheap goodies, not forgetting to advertise the fact that you have these at a wonderful cheap rate. Now of course if you have time to do this all on your own, you are miles ahead, but, if you have to hire some help, don't forget to pay wages, sickies, RDOs, compo, taxes, superannuation, holiday loading, the odd Christmas party and so on, and then you would be in a position to pass on all the savings to us, your avidly waiting public, and take absolutely nothing in return for your endeavours.
Then you will be just like what you obviously envisage as a "stealer"!
    Regards
    Glen

Doesn't the UK supplier have any of these overheads regarding having employees?

Will Bi-Xenons & auto headlights be a straight fit into an S?

You might find there's some ECU & wiring differences between the models.

I have to agree that many Australian retailers do charge more than is necessary. Some items have over 500% mark up
We quoted a customer this morning for a Disco 4 accessory - We can have it in our hand, by airmail (the most expensive method), cover all our expenses, include GST and deliver to the customer's door for $100 less than the local dealership. The local dealer doesn't airfreight and gets LR direct pricing so it makes you wonder how much they mark up!

That said, unfortunately we're in a market where Land Rovers aren't as common as in the UK. It's not like owning a commodore where every other house has one. Retailers here have to ship from the UK for anything genuine, Britpart, allmakes etc. So this means waiting 6 weeks on a boat or paying through the nose for airmail. We pay import duty, then get hit with GST. Oh, and pay the Shipping company for thier hand in things as well! Then we pay to transport orders from the port, storage, advertising, bank fees etc. Sometimes it can be a game of swings and roundabouts

each to there own, all he is doing is shopping around for best price, its place of origin has nothing to do with it
