    Latest lighting upgrade

This is my latest lighting upgrade as inspired by PhilipA.

About $50 worth of Australian supplied LED strip lights. They are firmly mounted to an aluminium U shaped backing, rather than just flopping around.
They are attached to the tailgate with good quality double sided tape and wired into the interior light circuit.

The pics don't really show, but there is a lot of light coming off the LEDs. It will be excellent for camping (the reason I did it) when using the tailgate for cooking or drinks mixing (much more likely to be the latter!).

It is all part of my plan to get the Rangie ready for a Cape trip next year - hopefully.

I bought a couple of these 20 LED strips at the 4x4 show in Melb. Was going to attach them with Velcro in the camper. Might look to see if the aluminium U channel will fit ok to prtect them when it's folded.
Looks good on the Rangie tho mate.... you should save a lot of other campers from mozzie bites up on the cape with lights that bright on your truck

I intend using LED strip lights in my camper trailer, permantly fixed to the frame.I have seen the same strips put inside clear PVC hose for protection held in place with cable ties.
How badly do LEDs attract the "nightlife" whilst camping????

I recently bought a 1 metre length of flexi LED strip with 60 LEDs and 3M self adhesive backing. It's just the right length to go above the rear door of the County. It tucks up on the inside, behind where the door seal is, so it's not shining in your face, but it lights up our fridge and drawers as well as the fold down table on the back door.
This weekend will be the first trip since fitting it.

    Cheers, Murray

LED lights strips are the way to go, we use a couple to light up the campsite for cooking and reading. If you trust the blurb that came with them they put out the as much light as a 40 watt fluro but only draw 0.4 amps
