    Swine Flu

The focus on swine flue has died during the past number of months.

It is certainly still with us

My stepdaughter has been in the Intensive Care Unit of SCG hospital in Perth since last Wednesday, in an induced coma and may be so for some weeks, we have been told there is no certainty that she will pull through.

We have no idea where she contracted it, hasn't been overseas for the last 18 months

It is a very aggressive virus, attacking the lungs ability to absorb oxygen into the bloodstream and she is currently on 100% oxygen and may have to have her blood machine fed with oxygen.

A very distressing time I can assure you.

Not good to hear at all Richard. We hope your daughter gets over this and recovers fully.

And no - we didn't know that the swine flu was still around either. Would rather have found out by other means though. This is not the way any of us here would wish to find out about things like this.
    Cheers .........

One of the ladies at my missus' work had it a few weeks ago, and she was seriously sick for two or three weeks. Until then I thought it had disappeared. Looks like it is getting a 2nd run.

Hope your girl gets better quickly. Nothing worse than seeing your kids sick and suffering.

I can only repeat what the other fella's above have said and hope she pulls through OK Richard.

The World Equestrian Games were on a few weeks back in Lexington, Kentucky and one of the Australian Dressage riders was diagnosed with Swine Flu on return, but AFAIK Lyndal is OK.
