In SA people will go into huge debt in order to buy the latest & fanciest car - and this (unfrotunately) includes D3/D4/RRS. Defender owners are generally not posers, and tend to keep theirs forever.

Unfrotunately, cars are now commodities - you buy it new, use it for a while and then get a new one. Gone are the days when one bought a car and made it last forever.

Of course, as Defender owners, we make ours last longer than most vehicles and yet get taxed the same when we have less of an environmental impact than a moden sedan!

I sent an email to Land Rover Australia re extended warranty for Defenders. I asked then specifically about their web page: http://www.landrover.com/au/en/lr/owners/warranty-and-assistance/assured-extended-warranty/. This is the reply I received:

    Dear Mr ********

    Our Ref: 7244126

Thank you for your email regarding the Land Rover's new Assured Extended Warranty Insurance.

Regrettably the Land Rover Assured Warranty does not include the Defender range due to their commercial vehicle classification status.

We recommend speaking with your local authorised retailer, who can offer an extended warranty policy which is issued and administered by a third party warranty company.

If you have any further enquiries, please don't hesitate to contact us on the number below, Monday to Friday, 08:00 till 18:00 (EST).

Thank you for your enquiry and we wish you many years of happy and safe motoring.

    Kind Regards,

    Athena Vickers
    Landrover Australia

    Email: enquiries@landrovercustomers.com.au

So, in their words: your local authorised retailer, ... can offer an extended warranty policy which is issued and administered by a third party warranty company.

So who is going to try out a dealer? I am more than happy to forward the original email to any one. Just PM me.

    Cheers
    KarlB

PS I already have an extended warranty.

Thanks Carl B, seeing as you already have the issuance cheers for the effort. I've called four different dealers as well as the two insurance companies who at one point offered the warranty. No luck with any of it but will look further. At this point I'm unaware of any insurance company apart from two already named in this thread and unless there are others none of the dealerships will offer any warranty. I too contacted LR but got the opposite answer. Hope yours is the right one! PM sent.

I called LR this morning to confirm the information in the email sent to KarlB was in fact correct, myself having been told the opposite. When the struggle finally ended getting the LR rep to accept that a) Extended warranty has been available up until recently, and b) KarlB did in fact receive an email stating that it was still available; I was told on no uncertain terms that it is not available from them (we know that) and not from anyone else they know of. End of story folks...

NO EXTENDED WARRANTY AVAILABLE FOR DEFENDERS.

    Good luck people.

So when does the class action begin? I'll chip in 50 bucks and I don't even own one of the POS.

That would buy a subscription to AULRO.... probably better value than a class action.
