Maybe It's not as bad as you think. Saw a poll on one of the news pages asking if we were happy she was coming to Aus. Less than 6000 said yes
nearly 26000 said no. It's just the media giving us what THEY think we should want.

Seriously....who cares? Big deal if some people are fans and want to see her....no different to someone who thinks XYZ sports person is the bomb.....or the lads from TGUK.....or whatever. I say knock your socks off.........you all sound like a bunch of whingers . If it means 1000's of tourists come to Australia and spend $$$ that helps our small businesses/ employee's...that's a good thing. Sheesh half glass emptiers , if that's the biggest contention in life that a celeb from O/S is getting some coverage and hoo haa....ya doin ok

In the end financially it will be good we may have laid out money to get her here but once she goes back and says go to Australia its great... they will come part with money and leave.

Also to emply she is a Hero or that Mundine and Paul Hogan are Heroes... that's crap the word Hero is way over used these days its lost its meaning!

Due to the global finacial crisis the Yanks don't have any money to come over and spend it.The ones that do have money are not part of the Oprah WinfreetriptoOz shows audience demographic. They are more like American versions of Bored, layabout Bogan Aussie housewives.

Cricky Stevo, just a few having a say.
My say is that Auz seems to fork out moolar hand over fist, 50mil here 50 there and at the end of the day , Losses. We must have stacks of dosh to continue these chance payoff tourism antics. Just my 2 cents. Maybe it will pay off? . Be the first. The Auz Gov may need Gambling Anonomous
My first political comment I must be Bored, sick of the rain

I’m totally with stevo on this one.

Who gives a rats ass what others think, if these people think she’s a hero, thats their business and as far as gov money spent, I bet they didn’t spend $45m on Oprah but I also bet we are sure as hell going to get a return from what ever they did spent.

Now tell me again, how much was it that we wasted on the CORRUPT soccer bid. And again, what are we getting in return.

Good on Oprah, she’s doing more for Australia than most Australians are doing.

Nothing more than the typical Australian “Tall Poppy” syndrome.

I don;t think Oprah is the issue

I think the cult of false celebrity is the problem.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Is that opinion or can be backed up by statistics?

    Crikey Baffle...so am I .

I don;t think Oprah is the issue

I think the cult of false celebrity is the problem.
Again...who cares...do you? Does it affect your day to day life? So real celebrity is ok as opposed to false celebrity? As I stated earlier....I really can't fathom how people can get a bee in their bonnet over something that is a flash in the pan. Funnily enough.....whilst they poo poo it...they have actually joined in the hoo haa by making a fuss about it . With all the places she goes to around Oz and it gets beamed around the world is like a DVD for Australia.

That's actually a good thing.......anyway must go watch my latest taped episode of Oprah....I think it is something on losing weight

    Regards

    Hi,
the 'fans' must have very boring lives to get excited by such hype. Just don't understand it myself - but if it keeps them out of the bush, it suits me fine.

    cheers
