    Ebay & Spelling

I just picked up a bargain off Ebay & I put it down to bad spelling. ( I can just see Ron nodding in agreement)

Not to be critical of the seller, she was a lovely person, but I bid another $80.00 as these often sell for $150.00.

How would you find this on a search?

    1995 Landrover discover luguage grill

    Item condition: Used

    Ended 23 Dec, 201015:05:44 AEDST

    Bid history: 3 bids

    Winning bid: AU $56.99

    Item number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    Item location: melbourne, Victoria, Australia
    Posts to: Local pick-up only

There are sometimes over 6,000 items listed under "Landrover"

Anyway, I'm not complaining, just pointing out the pitfalls to sellers.

Search term = ("Land Rover", Landrover) +Disco* +Lug*
    check title and description.

If you want to exclude items then add: -DVD -model -CD* -Mag* -xenon -VHS

That's the luck of the ebay sale - you won it at a cheap price, sometimes you miss out altogether.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Heck, don't point that kind of stuff out, we need them to keep making mistakes so we get their stuff cheap!

Not for nothing do you search Discovery by putting disco* in the search box, the asterix allows for spelling errors, and it takes less keystrokes too.

As spelling has already been mentioned, am I allowed to raise a grammatical point and explain that it doesn't take less keystrokes, it takes fewer keystrokes?

Less is for quantity, fewer is for numbers. So "disco*" takes up less space because it uses fewer keystrokes.

I think I'll write a book "Secrets of ebay spelling"

To be sold on ebay only as a download and listed as "seakretz orf ebay speeleng"
    Should ensure zero profitz.

I'm often more surprised by what comes up in searches I make that are completely unrelated.

    Thankyou Ron.
