Hey Ean! Having done that trip a couple of times, you'll love it!!! Wycliffe Wells is a bit of a weird spot eh? Their hamburgers with the lot are pretty tasty, and the beers are reasonably priced.

If you're intending on heading further than Alice, about 130klm's past in the twisties, there's a series of floodways on the Stuart which can fill up rather quickly...not sure what impact wet-season has on them down that way. On my way up in dry season, these had flooded (?!) and the police closed it to everyone except 4x4's with snorkels...any trailers, etc n you were staying put. They were checking each vehicle before allowing you through. It was a bit of an adrenaline rush going through (my 1st time tbh) with a massive crowd either side cheering on, so I put on a bit of a show for them in the water.

Alice is great fun, so hope you enjoy a relaxing time there with the family over NYE mate!

Well we made the Alice..holed up in a neat van park..
Never seen any UFO's but what a great place,I always stay there if its late arvo and im going past, and the guy who built it had a real vision on what he wanted to make the place.

They are having a world UFO conference there next year...

Past a heap of cop cars around Barrow creek, and bugger me some bloke came out of the bushes and run on the road and tried to thumb a lift..I nearly run him over...then a unmarked car which was behind us.. a dual cab hilux stopped and grabbed him so not sure what it was all about..

Will enjoy a couple days here and see how we pull up new years day and push on south..

    Cheers Ean

It's the Territory. Does there need to be a reason?

Good to hear the travel is going well. The last box of prawns made it safely to Adelaide today too.

    Gday All,

Well we made Pt Augusta and travelled an extremely hot day yesterday, the temp guage for outside read 46-48 for most of yesterday, maybe not that hot, but close..I know it was bloody hot last night at Cadney homestead.

The disco has been trouble free so far, but just found a suspect uni on the front shaft, only replaced them with greasable ones 12 mths ago..

Will investigate getting them done further near Adelaide..

If anyone knows of someone who can do it near adelaide can you pls let me know.

    Cheers Ean

    Thats pretty warm Ean.
The only way to check that uni is to pull over after half an hours drive first thing in the morning, and feel if its hot,if it is you are in strife, consider droping it and and locking the CDL.I towed a trailer loaded with all our camping gear for 100ks when mine played up.Much better than it letting go and ruining your holiday.

    Gday Andrew,

Its already been done, I can see how bad it is once I removed it, it would've let go very soon, so wont risk it, its got alot of movement and the rubber seal is RS, so its out and tied to the roof rack..

    Cheers Ean
