    Safe for LR Defender

I want to have made a SAFE for the interior of my Landrover Td5 2005 County Station Wagon. Ideally, this would be (as a minimum) 13” long (ideally 15”) x 11” deep (ideally 12”) x a reasonable width, as I’d like to keep in it a not-very-small laptop and an essential paper file or two, as well as the obvious other items.

The obvious place for this would be the box between the front seats but that box is too small and anyway has in a number of wires and is useful for other items.

Any suggestions for siting within the vehicle, and a design for how it would best be made, please?

If it accords with your needs, bolt a sheet of formply full width side to side on top of the wheel housings behind the rear seat and you'll 9" high space between the formply and the floor which is only accessible via the rear door and everything underneath the formply is hidden and fairly secure, rivet a hasp & stapl to the back door for a padlock as well (mr bean style) for added security if you like

finish the formply with car carpet on top

There are some being made in South Africa and the UK. Cubby replacements, Under Cubby boxes, under seat boxes etc.

Mobile Storage Systems is one manufacturer.

Might get some ideas from their range.

Also try Dolium, they supply Front Runner products and I have just got one for mine that goes under your centre console. Maybe not the exact size you want but may be of use.

This one sits under the cubby box, you don't even know it is there. I believe you cut a whole in the body and it sinks down a few centimetres, still sitting well above the running gear, and the cubby box is bolted on top, with the key access via the tray in the front of the cubby, and you just tilt the cubby back to gain access.

Pretty much the same as the one Dolium offer, but the one I bought cost a lot less.
You dont have to cut a hole. The panel over the gearbox is removed, as it is held there by screws and the safe is fitted with the console going on top.
