Yes Mick,the good old days.Around the early sixties judging by the cars.1500 factories with apprentices, in the days before Gerry Harvey and his cronies started buying from Asia which ended up closing most of these factories.
Sorry to get off the subject but I did enjoy that tape.That was the Australia I grew up in ,50's & 60's.
Well and truly gone now.

Yup! Sydney cicra 1965 by the title date, the latest vehicle I saw was an AP5/6 Valiant wagon,I too was one of those people that caught at various times, the ferry (from Manly) "North Head","South Styne","Barracola", all dressed up in suit and tie,and the fun (as a young bloke) going home to Manly on the last ferry in a Southerly blow,particularly on Barracola,with green water washing across the lower deck,and,in the evenings up the X on the M'cycle

Aah! yes Sydney was reasonably safe in those days no drugs, firearms,and LOTS of respect for the law can clearly remember watching the Bennelong Shark get built, and can remember the opening,pity they didn't show a little more of the various workplaces and industry.

Watched it again, and re-read the credits 1966 so I was a year out

Easy to give an approximate date, all men had short hair, no mini skirts, no women in the bar at the Newcastle, newest Holdens are EH's at least that I noticed (first HD release Feb. '65), state of construction at the opera house. I only watched the first 9 minutes. So somewhere between the last trams, 1961, and early '65

Lol thanks Uncle It's a great snapshot in time. Kind of like a shortened version of "They're a Weird Mob".

The working week - Monday to Friday; sport with the kids on Saturday; hit the town Saturday night then repent on Sunday morning

It was interesting to see that the grass was just as bad on Coogee Oval back then.

It was good to watch however I thought by the mid sixties the Australian government had stopped making propaganda films to attract more Poms out here?
