theyd be the same kind of people whod complain that the fire dept ruined the carpet or the plasterwork when they come along and hose out the house with a fire hose.
Don't know if anybody else has had this rant....
I'm watching in awe and shock as bits of Brisbane and surrounds are being destroyed, it's surreal as I'm not too far away and yet there is no sign of water.
One of the channels (TV) has a ribbon with the latest news scrolling underneath the main feature. Up comes this message....
"residents that are complaining about the helicopter noise are asked to be patient"
WTF ??????? Who are these tools?
Rant ended!

....and as for those looters........it was a sad, sad day when they hung up the cat o'ninetails.
A decent flogging always ensured you had a damned good think before you did it again

Another of those comment ribbons was asking people to converse water.
Because talking to it is going to help.
I agree with them totally if the helicopters have "7" or "9" on them.
I am still fuming hopefully unnecessarily about the 3 people on the AWD in Toowoomba. It appears on the surface that:-
1 this is the same AWD shown with people inside(certainly there was a child in the passenger seat.)
2 next shown is three people on top of the car
3 next night the station 7? says on the news that their helo went away to get an emergency service sperson and the car was then gone.
It appears on the surface to me that the people saw the helo , got on top hoping to be rescued and the helo then went away. Later it was announce dthat the woman and child lived but the man died
IMHO time is the absolute essence in these things and the pilot should have immediately rescued them. If the capacity was not enough he should have ditched the cameraman on the nearest dry ground and went back immediately.
If the above is the case the pilot should be charged .
Regards Philip A
Philip - noting that the helo is not winch fitted and this is not a hollywood movie where all people can hang onto the helo skids - how would this helo be able to directly save these people?
I do agree picking up a emergency services person was not much use. I assume the position was radioed to rescue helos etc but they were not able to get there in time.

In defence of the pilot, his machine had no winch, was not equipped for rescue, had no experienced crew, if he had tried to hover almost on top of the car, the rotor wash could have made the situation much worse, could have lost them all.I've seen Military pilots do amazing things with their machines, but they are the exception, rather than the rule. My issue is with the news team putting the vision on air, the fact they blanked out the faces when they were on top of the car shows me they were aware it was a life threatening situation. I.M.O. , it was a very insensitive and, unethical piece of reporting.[Must stop now getting bloody angry] Bob.
Yes, it was a little insensitive, BUT it also highlights the fact that the Qld Police service does NOT have it's own Helo,as other states do, but relies on media and other sources, this should be the first order of business post this flood disaster, maybe Captan Bligh should ask her good friend the PM to make available 1 or 2 now de-commisioned Hueys at a reasonable price some of which I think are winch equiptafter spending $$$$$ on failed dams/desalination plants, and wasted money on arty-farty stuff, emergency services should get $ priority
