Exclamation trailer light blinker on dash

Hi all: have had a bullbar with indicator lights fitted... when I use the car's turn blinkers, the little trailer icon on the dash flashes... is this because the system things it has a trailer in tow even though there isn't one...? nigs

Yes. The extra lights in the bullbar are putting enough load on the system to fool it into thinking there is a trailer attached. Replacing them with lower wattage (10 watt) globes should solve the issue.

Else fit a relay to run the b/bar lights, there was another questioning the purpose of two (roughly) installed and wired relays that turned out to be for exactly that.

Mine has done the same for quite a while, its funny because for a while it would only do it on right hand turns, but I then figured out that the left hand bulb was blown. Nows is back to blinking both ways.

Isn't it supposed to flash once only to indicate the system is working?

My dash light never comes on with the trailer plugged in and I have more inportant things to attend to than some idiot light. If I get around to fixing it, you will know I have nothing else to do.

Yes, i think so. I was led to believe that when a trailer was connected it would flash constantly to let you know that one the trailer indicator bulb wasnt working.

It flashes in synch with the indicators i.e., if the bulb in the trailer is good the dash indicator flashes. If it don't flash the system does not recognise that there is an extra bulb in the circuit.
