Tread plate, chequer plate, diamond plate. They're the names I've heard it go by - hope that helps!

I've always called it chequer plate.

AFAIK that is most correctly termed "diamond plate"

The type which has squares of diamonds in alternating directions is checker plate.

but all can be called floor plate or tread plate

Ok thank you all for your replys

We were about to launch a range of underlay for a carpet group in QLD and north NSW and call it Diamond Tred but can't because this stuff has the lincesnse for it

They say it is called and know as Diamond Tred world wide. But I have never heard it called that. I only found out when I goggled it. As some have said here I call it tread plate or checker plate

    Thank again for you help
