Cool. I only work on comparitively small gensets now - diesels up to 2MVA, but I did play with some bigger ones way back when I was an apprentice at the SEC. What size sets are they at Newport?

Dunno, powered by a monsterous V16 twin turbo cat though, which got a workout as SPausnet blacked the station out!

Funny place, one unit, when its off they pay for power

No it's not. That flag you've pointed out is on the outbound lane and is a marker where the construction crews enter the steps to climb over the edge as part of the westgate upgrade.

The poor little kid was thrown over on the inbound side, closer to the Williamstown on ramp.

Hahaha... I think the "local" who told you that isn't too local. They were probably just spouting something else that someone else told someone else. Kind of like chinese whispers, or whatever that game is called.

I live just near Newport and know the area very well and know the exact spot that the incident happened.

I thought the 2 places were in line with each other across the bridge, having heard both versions of the story...

I prefer the interpretation of "one is where he threw his daughter off, the other is where they were going to tie the rope to when they chucked him off"
