Learnt something new about TD5 Alternators tonight

Well I thought I had seen it all. Got home and Mrs Craig said the Fender would not start down the shops tonight and had to flick over to the second battery to get home' Ok check the batteries main 10.8v auxillary 12.5v. Ok start car and check alternator output, Oh crap zilch. Just what I needed to require an alternator just before easter and going to Broome.
Well did a bit of a search and found the alternator output on these things is linked in with the stop tail light. Sure enough checked brake lights, no brake lights. Replaced 10A blown brake light fuse and alternator charging again.
How many people have been caught with this and replaced alternators???
Thanks to this site for the tip, something I did not know
