Thanks Cjc,most sensible people head north come winter, but I like to be different, don'tlikethe sound of the winds though, but would love to see a bit of the white stuff for once!.I'll be giving the fireplace a good run ,thats for sure.

Isuzu Tech,I'll pm you when I work dates out, leaving Brissy on 7-8th July and booked in to Rydal on 15th,look forward to catching up
    Cheers Gregg

There isn't any Alpine diesel around Lithgow that I know of. I've not seen any biodiesel either. If you are at Rydal then you should try the trails around Mt Walker. Some good four wheel driving there and only 5-10 minutes away?

    Thanks Mikehzz,
As suggested earlier,I'll just fill up locally at Lithgow and take it from there,I'd like to do some tracks but I;m on my own ,so I never venture too far by myself, but I allways carry a snatch strap and shackles...you never know.
I do apologise if my trip planning has hi-jacked this thread a little, but it looks like I'll be chasing a bit of snow as well as trains
    Cheers Gregg

Had a flurry of emails this evening, a very nice low coming in over the next Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday. So Lithgow Oberon and Blue Mountains area looking good for snow again right up to Guyra.

I will be probably up at Barrington Tuesday or Wednesday if it keeps on track with O-D
Going up thru Singleton Scone way shortest way to Polblue (200k's) for me

Heres a pic from another forum from last Thursday morning at Polblue (Barrington tops)

I want pics of my LR on the road like that!

I remember as a young'n (late 70's) being up at Mt Canoblas and it snowing massively, and extremely unpleasantly cold. Not a place I enjoyed back then but now strangely curious to revist.

Well it looks like they have downgraded the forecast for this week. There will be lots of moisture around but not low enough temperatures for snow. Looks like we might have to wait for the next cold front Dazza, unless you want to go up there and sit in the freezing cold rain?

If anyone is interested here is the other chart we are using to predict snow (German site). Apparently these charts are only accurate 72 hours out, as we have just discovered for ourselves:

Wetter : Wetterzentrale : Top Karten : Prognose - GFS Australien

First click on "Niedershchlag 9-Panel" to see the 9 day moisture/rain prediction (blue shades). Then click on "850hPa Temperatur 9-Panel" to see the same 9 days for 0 or below temps (the light green shade).

If you see both on the same day above Barrington Tops there will be snow at 1500m.
