If they are anything like ACTION busses in the ACT then get ready to fight and don't take no for an answere.
I was hit by one back in 1997. Ran half my car over and dragged it round the corner with the bus. Company did everything to not pay a cent and I ended up fotting the medical bills and half the cost of my car when they wouldn't pay it all out:mad:.
I did teach me value of insurance though.
BCC must have mentored ACTION, but not very well. BCC wouldn't have given half. :pQuote:

BCC should take these things more seriously. Maybe its the changing times and driver conduct means nothing now, but 18 years ago when I was on my P licence (that makes me feel old) a bus driver leaned out his window and abused me for being in his way, driving a mini moke with the top down made it easy for me to hear everything he said, yelled out to get my f##### piece of s#### out of the f##### way, well you get the idea. The traffic wasn't moving, I was next to the bus so nobody could go anywhere.
Well this guy was looking for a new job the following day - amazing what a difference it makes when your high school French teacher was married to the BCC transport executive, a quick phone call and it was sorted with a written apology following a couple of days later. Not what you know but who you know!

Lets not tar all BCC bus drivers with the same brush... A couple of former LROCB members were BCC bus drivers, and they were fully licenced drivers, as skilled and professional as they come.

Having spent the past 20 or so years riding a bicycle on Brisbane roads as a commuter, courier, and a road cyclist, I can say without a doubt, that Brisbane Transport bus drivers are far more patient and courteous to cyclists than they used to be. Sure you get the odd bit of aggression, but generally speaking I feel they are far more understanding these days. Good on them for doing what they do and keeping their cool. I know I wouldn't.
bit of an update
had the defender assessed by RACQ and the knock back repairing the small dents and spraying the back of the car, fare enough to as it was cause by the accident but they are replacing the land rover badge which doesn't look marked to me. they did however cross off replacing the towbar which i was not happy
dropped the defender off tot he smash repairer tuesday, they called me around yesterday to see if i was happy with there adjustment of the rear door.....which i was. they had also painted the towbar and what surprised me was now you could really see that the towbar look bent. just so happen a towbar fitter was assessing another car so i asked him to assess mine, he confirmed it was bent and needed replacement........will wait and see what RACQ say
i know i am a bit late on this topic
first off i know a BCC trainer on the southside of town i will send this on to him.
when you look at the bus number the letter in front is the depot it is garaged so V687 is located at the Virginia depot and it also looks like that this bus is still on the old BCC standard of the chassis number governing the fleet and number plate number so they are all the same.
i have been told there are some real wally's driving these thing due to the high turnaround in staff and the need to not get too picky.
go for it with RACQ as well and tell them it is dangerous to operate with the tow bar as it was assessed by a professional, and keep ANY paperwork from them that says otherwise. if something happens you can then lay the blame on them with WRITTEN evidence
im an ex transport driver as well i had more trouble with taxi's than buses in the city
