Just wonder if the Vortex Premium has an additive to minimize pump seal faliure.
I routinely fill up on Caltex diesel using the Woolworths discount card. Over the past few months I have noticed some Caltex-Woolworths service stations have "Vortex premium diesel" labels on the pumps, whilst others just have plain old diesel labels. My question is this - is there any actual difference and are some stations selling different fuel to others, or is it just a labelling inconsistency?
I can't say I've noticed any price differential (they are both too ****ing high) and I've never seen a service station selling both Vortex Premium and regular diesel side by side. Caltex lists three types of diesel on their website; Low-sulphur, "New Genereation" with 2% biodiesel and Vortex Premium but none are advertised out the front of fuel stations and you never know what you're going to get until you pull up at the bowser.
Just wonder if the Vortex Premium has an additive to minimize pump seal faliure.
It is slightly different I hav been running it for around a year now and it makes the engine run smoother and get a very slight increase in power due to smoothness I presume.... It noticably makes engine smoother in 200tdi,puma,isuzu,4.2td cruiser all cars which I own or drive frequently but I have read in done articles on certain motors it will increase top end egts around 50°c but not noticble on normal driving ! Shouldn't be to concerned 50°c isn't much and most landys run lean (petrol terminology) if standard from factory...
I've noticed that the servo's with a large percentage of trucks are labelled plain 'Diesel' and others have the vortex. The only one I've seen advertising both is the Bluestar at Blacksoil.
What I've been told - Woolworths/Caltex are moving to Vortex Diesel only and this will be a standard setup from now on in new/refurb service stations. We have a new one in Mernda (opened last week) and each pump is a standard design - Diesel Vortex, unleaded and premium unleaded.
As mentioned, Vortex Diesel is like a premuim diesel and if nothing else is supposed to clean the engine and help it run a bit better. Its not a bang for your buck fuel.
I too am a little pessimistic and think its just an opportunity to charge more for diesel and a slightly more refined diesel they should be doing in the first place.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Vortex is bio blended, Diesel is Diesel ... ??
That's why truck bowser are Diesel, not Vortex.

Our Vortex Diesel is an Australian first. It cleans the vehicle's fuel system as you drive and has been formatted with the latest diesel technology in mind.
Vortex Diesel contains an anti-foaming agent that significantly reduces the risk of splashing. It also eliminates most of the odours that are associated with traditional diesel fuel.
We believe it's the most refined fuel for advanced turbo-diesel engines on the market.
Key benefits:
•Cleans the engine while driving
•Improves engine efficiency
•Reduces foaming to prevent splashback
•Suitable for all diesel-powered vehicles
When I read stuff like "cleans your fuel system" then I presume it has to have a biodiesel component.
